The Developers : how many times we should let the players fall in love with Lara Croft? Y E S.
The final part of Lara’s origin story continues her journey fighting Trinity and this time she is fighting them mostly in Peru. After accidentally setting a “natural” disaster, Lara is forced to race against Trinity to save the world.
Playing TR 2013 and Rise of the Tomb Raider is highly advised before playing this game so that the player can bond with Lara and understand her journey. Also, grab all the DLCs because each of them offers mini story with unique tombs.
-Much better stealth mechanics than previous games. Unlike in previous games, Lara can disappear after the enemies have spotted her.
-More special gadgets (ammunition type) that allows Lara to do stealth easier than ever.
-Better visuals and Photography mode. If you know, you know ahaha.
-Much complex and better written main antagonist than previous games. We finally know who caused the most pain to Lara.
-The story discovers more about Lara vs Trinity conflict. It also solves the cliffhanger at the end of Rise of the Tomb Raider.
-More tombs and puzzles to explore, to my surprise they all didn’t feel like copy and paste. Each tombs are unique and not sure if I liked this or not, they are creepier than ever.
-New market mechanics, you can buy and sell items and equipment.
-A lot of outfits, in my opinion the outfits remind me of Assassin’s Creed series. There are also new craftable outfits.
-Great DLC contents. All of them offer unique story extension and tombs.
-Unexpectedly emotional ending. The ending of this trilogy feels super satisfying and there is no cliffhanger. I absolutely love Lara’s character development throughout the trilogy.
-Less combat than previous games. It is ironic because this game allows you to have interesting gadgets and advanced stealth mechanics but combats are scarce.
-Controls feel a little bit odd compared to Rise of the Tomb Raider when freerunning/climbing/solving puzzles.
Overall I am really happy that I played the trilogy. I honestly thought Tomb Raider games were just another generic & boring action games but I am glad I was wrong. I guess now I am officially a fan of Modern Lara and I am looking forward for the next game. To Crystal Dynamics, please please please don’t mess the future Tomb Raider games.
P.S. Camilla Luddington IS Lara Croft.
